Today I learned that Shekhinah Mountainwater... Faery Bard, Radical Muse, Foremother of the Womanspirit movement, Author of Ariadne's Thread… had left her body on August 12, 2007.
I was writing my Bio for my website and I googled Shekhinah’s name, to be sure I had the spelling correct. To my shock and dismay, I learned that she had battled cancer and had passed over in 2007. Her book, Ariadne’s Thread, was one of the first books I read on Goddess Spirituality many years ago. Around this time, I had the privilege of meeting Shekhinah at a Womens’ gathering in Northern California. I have the very fond memory of sitting with her in her tent, after the ritual, under the moonlight. She was a true sister, real cool, an artist’s soul. I was so honored to spend that time with her.
I was shocked to hear of her passing, I had no idea she was sick. I'm kind of overtaken, really hit with how profoundly Shekhinah and all Wise Women that went before us, have paved the way for women to be our full, powerful and free selves.
Here's to you, beautiful sister, may your soul fly free with the music!
In deep gratitude,
Stahsha
